being Crane closed up,and money an issue,do'nt care for comps, harland sharps, and the other good ones cost over 300 beans.I reserched and the Scorpions look great on paper 1.65 springs fit and up to 950 lift, and 900 spring pressures, while the rest come in at 800. The Millers are well Great for 1500.00 but they have lower priced PA style, for 300 now gettable for 159.00 but why did they discontinue them? anybody have an opinion?or experience with either? oh I can get the Scops for 199.95....
Hey Now personally I don't see an issue with either set. I would like "Big Al" to jump in here on this as he has a lot of experience and research about this type of problem. As you know anything can happen, we just want to stack the deck in our favor as much as our wallet can handle. Respectfully, "Bill's" II
Harland Sharps are 230.00 for the 3/8 1.65 rockers part# S1003, and 250.00 for the 7/16 1.65 part# S1006 on Summit. So that is less than the 300 limit you have. I have those on my sbc 406. I love'm. I think they had a lifetime warranty with them as well. It's not mentioned on their site, but it comes in the box. So if you do break one you can get it replaced for free. I mean no disrespect at all, but you know the saying that you get what you pay for. I hope this helps.
I've used Scorpion's with no issues--flatlander gets $209-222 depending on stud size and ratio. I picked up some recently from their overstock for $159.
Watch out for the Miller's. Ask Veno what happened to his with just a solid flat tappet (around 150 on the seat). I believe he posted pics if you want to do a search.
Scorpions are nicely made and seem durable but they are heavy. Real heavy.

Top of my list are Harland Sharp.
They invented them, they build them, they warranty them for life.
You can purchase a cheep set of rocker arms for 150.00 or and a tank a gas and get a quality set! http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CSP-S1001/
Cheep knock offs I see no advantage. China made parts are starting to show there faces even in a mild street engines with low pressure valve springs. Stock rocker arms IMO will last longer than these cheep parts.
Also BEWARE! Just because a part has a well know name does not mean they are not china parts.
PAY ME NOW OR PAY ME LATTER!
And the latter is always expensive.
FYI
Crane is not out of business. They were purchased by S&S Engines and will revolve over time. But Crane were never cheep in quality or cost. http://cranecams.com/?show=crane-ss
